Chestnuts are the edible nuts of trees in the Castaneda genus, native to regions in the Northern Hemisphere with temperate climates. You can eat chestnuts raw or roast them while they’re still in the shell. Unlike most nuts, chestnuts are low in fat and high in complex carbohydrates.
